Your path is a problem set. Solve it in order.
Competitive programming means solving puzzles with code, against the clock. You don’t need to know any of it yet. You start at problem A.
A.First Accepted
time limit: your first week
Make an account on Codeforces, the website competitive programmers practice on, and solve your first easy problem.
- Input
- A laptop and some curiosity.
- Output
- Your first “Accepted”: the verdict that means your code is correct.
B.Newcomer Training
time limit: one season
Weekly sessions and problem sheets, taught by members who started exactly where you are.

- A few hours a week.
- Output
- The basics: loops, arrays, sorting, searching, and the habit of practicing.
C.Practice Group
time limit: every week
Train with a group at your level. You all solve the same problem sets and see each other’s progress.

- Steady progress, and people to learn with.
D.Team of Three
time limit: one summer
ICPC is a team contest: three students share one computer. You find your teammates and practice full contests together.

E.ECPC and ACPC
time limit: five hours
The Egyptian and the Africa & Arab university championships. This is where teams qualify for the world stage.

The world championship of university programming. Assiut teams have been there, and the path to it starts at problem A.

ICPC is the world’s biggest programming contest for university students. Teams who train here compete at every stage of it, year after year.
ECPC
Egypt’s national championship
17 teams from Assiut University qualified in 2019.
ACPC
Africa & Arab championship
Ala7lam_team won Assiut University’s first ACPC gold medal in 2021, placing 4th.
World Finals
The world championship
Five World Finals in a row: Luxor (twice), Astana, Baku and Dubai.

The Upper Egypt Programming Contest: teams from across the region, competing in one hall. Organized by the community and hosted by Badr University in Assiut (BUA).
